Mission file 08 / The comeback

Starting over
counts as starting.

LOG RETURN / 01DAY ONE, AGAINDOOR: OPENED

Injury, a baby, a brutal job year, or just four winters of not. Coming back is its own skill, and the people who do it well all break the same rule: they refuse to start where they left off.

The two-week tax

Muscle memory is real. Strength returns several times faster than it was built, which is the good news. The bad news is that tendons and joints adapt slower than muscle, and the classic comeback injury is a strong engine bolted to a rusty frame in week three. So you pay a deliberate tax: two weeks at loads that feel insultingly easy. Pay it. It is the cheapest insurance in training.

The protocol

What not to buy

The comeback is the most-marketed moment in fitness, and nearly everything aimed at it is noise. Skip the fat burners and the 75-day challenges. Protein to target, maybe creatine, patience in bulk. The Baseline stack is two items and one of them is optional for the first month.

Week one is written already
